I was born and raised in Monmouth County, New Jersey. As a child I was a competitive gymnast and cheerleader. During college at the University of Delaware, I became relatively inactive, focusing primarily on obtaining a degree in political science and enjoying a typical college life. After graduating, I began to work part-time at Gold’s Gym, Middletown NJ while trying to decide on a career path. I soon came to the realization that the field in which I truly belonged was health and fitness.

In 1999, I became an NSCA Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and the fitness director of Gold’s Gym. I competed in, and won, my first fitness competitions in 2001 and 2002. In 2003, I married Matthew Szep who is also an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Graduate of Montclair State University. I soon joined Matt at his personal and sport specific training studio, Core Fitness Inc. I returned to competing in 2004 and achieved professional status in the International Federation of Bodybuilding in 2005.

Currently, I am striving for continued success both in the competitive fitness field and in our personal training business. As for the future, I look forward to enjoying continued happiness with my husband and, eventually, the joys of motherhood!
